Real Conversation

Grant is crying

Me: Grant what happened

Spencer: Well, we were throwing shoes and one hit him in the face

Me: Go put away the shoes

Spencer: I was afraid you might say that

Both kids ran off happily and put away the shoe.  I am counting this as a win in the good parent column despite the shoe throwing.

Edit me

I wanted to do something with the space to the left and wanted to really draw out the features of this darling boy.
I changed the photo to black and white made it a bit smaller so that when I added the color portions back in they would
jump out a bit more.  I should have muted the detail in the background image a bit so the quote would stand out.

Mother's beatitudes

· Blessed is the mother who understands her child, for she shall inherit a kingdom of memories.
· Blessed is the mother who knows how to comfort, for she shall possess a child's devotion.
· Blessed is the mother who guides by the path of righteousness, for she shall be proud of her offspring.
· Blessed is the mother who is never shocked, for she shall receive confidences.
· Blessed is the mother who teaches respect, for she shall be respected.
· Blessed is the mother who emphasizes the good and minimizes the bad, for in like manner the child himself shall make evaluations.
· Blessed is the mother who treats her child as she would be treated, for her home shall be filled with happiness.
· Blessed is the mother who answers simply the startling questions, for she shall always be trusted.
· Blessed is the mother who has character strong enough to withstand the thoughtless remarks and resentments of the growing child, for, in due time, she shall be honored.

Edit me

This one was fun!  The moment I saw the picture I knew what I wanted to do with it.
A few months ago my Grandma e-mailed several poems that my Grandpa wrote as a young man.  This one is written about the town he grew up in...(eventually raised his family in this town and my folks stuck around and I was raised there too).  I thought it was a fun addition to this old time photo.

 Here's what I did:
Brightened the photo a bit and shifted the colors a bit more to the warm side
Straightened it up a bit
And of course added grandpa's poem

Hope you like it
