Get fit challenge

Your fitness challenge(s) for the weekweek four on the squat challenge and week three situp challenge and week three on c25k.
Your food challenge for the week: eating out.
How well did it go:  I didn't eat out at all.  I packed my lunch for work both days I worked.  Yay!!!  Towards the end of last week I was starting to feel a cold settling in (both kids had been coughing all week)  This week it's been getting worse all week...yuck.  My abs were so sore from coughing that I could complete a single set on the sit up challenge but I did manage to complete the whole week on the squat challenge and actually did over 600 squats this week!  I got out an ran twice this week but i think my lungs just weren't all there.  but the point is that I did it.  (I did skip one of my runs)
Failures and slip-ups:  I skipped on run, I would like to say it was due to being sick but really I think I could have done it and I decided not to.
Weekly challenge wisdom: If you're not feeling well it's ok to cut back on your workout but you will feel better if you do something physical every day.
Advice to fellow GET FIT members:  even though we are doing this for ourselves right now it will benefit our families in the long run. They are seeing us eat better and move more and thats a great thing.  (Parent magazine is doing a 12 week get fit as a family challenge...looks like fun.  If you sign up you can win a trip to hawaii)

Goals this week:
I am repeating week 3 of the situp challenge and week 3 of C25k but moving on to week 5 of the squat challenge.
C25K: Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then do two repetitions of the following:
  • Jog 200 yards (or 90 seconds)
  • Walk 200 yards (or 90 seconds)
  • Jog 400 yards (or 3 minutes)
  • Walk 400 yards (or three minutes)

Get fit Challenge

Your fitness challenge(s) for the weekweek three on the squat challenge and situp challenge with week two  This week on c25k...Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 90 seconds of jogging and two minutes of walking for a total of 20 minutes...three times this week.
Your food challenge for the week: eating out.  I need to eat at home more and pack my lunch for work
How well did it go:  Very rainy and cold here this week...It was hard getting motivated to go out and run...but I did it!  Also I was working the super early shift this week...yuck.  Next week i'm working in the evening so it should be easier to fit in my workouts.  I did decide to join the hospital fitness center for the day that the weather is just too bad to exercise outside.  It's only $10 a month and it's open 24/7.  I got in an extra yoga workout (with Grant...see pictures).  Spencer says he wants to do yoga tonight... should be fun.
Failures and slip-ups:  I need to keep track of what i'm eating...or at least where it's coming from.  I think I ate out less this week but i can't remember.
Weekly challenge wisdom:  The hardest part is getting going...don't think...just do it. (repeat from last week but still true! and the only reason I make it through the week)
Advice to fellow GET FIT members:  Read the article I tweeted today...It's another good one

Get fit Challenge

Your fitness challenge(s) for the week: Sore muscles...lesson learned, stretch
Your food challenge for the week: eating out.  I need to eat at home more and pack my lunch for work
How well did it go:  It's going well...I completed one week of c25k and one week of sit ups.  Also a 10 mile bike ride with Will
Failures and slip-ups:  I was so sore from my squat test that I wasn't actually able to squat again until today.  I did 125 squats in my first test and figured that 200 isn't much of a challenge.  I re-tested today with 2 5# weights and did 73.

Weekly challenge wisdom:  The hardest part is getting going...don't think...just do it.
Advice to fellow GET FIT members:  Read the article I tweeted today...It's a good one
Goals this week: I will start from week three this week on the squat challenge and continue the situp challenge with week two.  This week on c25k...Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 90 seconds of jogging and two minutes of walking for a total of 20 minutes...three times this week.
I may have found my goal race.  there is an event called Bark in the Park and it's a 5k to support the local humane society.  I plan to collect money and run for Daisy and the man who took care of us on the day we lost her.  More to come.  the race is the second week of May.

New swing set and haircuts

So I promised the kids a new Swing set when we moved.  It's not as cool as the old one but no emergency room visit so we'll call it a win.

Get fit Challenge

I'm going to give this a try...

shutter_momma.com is doing this git fit challenge. I haven't really worked out in a long while and am thinking that now's a good time to start. the weather here is nice enough to exercise outdoors and I am really excited to start riding my bike and hiking. I am still trying to work up to running a 5K just once...maybe this is the time it will work. I started the couch to 5k program again today. I am also going to do a situp and squat challenge...they say i will be able to do 200 of each in 6 weeks.

I'll be answering these questions each Saturday...
