Get FIT!!

Starting with the Selfies because I loved the assignment this week.

Why yes, I do have underpants on my head.  They are clean.

Your fitness challenge(s) for the weekweek 3 pushups and week 6 sit-ups alongs with week 6 of C25K

Your food challenge for the week: More water and count calories.

How well did it go:  A good week.  I think I average eating out less than once a week.  I pack my lunch for work every day.  I still have to think about water all day to get in 8 ounces but I an hoping it become a habit to drink lots of water.  I only fell short on day this week and that was due to an upset tummy. (boy was I thirsty the next day...I think my body is used to the 64 ounces/day)  I did sutup/pushups 4 days, running 4 days, pilates once.  I ran 20 minutes outside without any breaks to walk.  Wooo hoo!

Failures and slip-ups:  I learned the value of allowing rest and recovery.  I ran monday wednesday thursday and today but was really disappointed thursday when I couldn't finish the next workout after doing 20 minutes on wednesday.  Also really struggled with situps and pushups after the pilates workout.

Weekly challenge wisdom: From my pilates workout.  Work your body in the form you want to have.  If you want tight abs and butt, keep them tight through your whole workout.  This is not easy but I'm sure it's worth it.

Advice to fellow GET FIT members: try new things, you never know what you might enjoy.  I like the workouts that I am doing now but I found this one that I'm going to add to my to do list.  All is requires is a bit of space and some time.  (hand weights optional) http://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/bob-harper

Goals this week:
C25K: Starting this week run 25 minutes.  I am hoping to work up to a 10 minute mile.  (I have been hanging out around 12 minutes)
Looking forward to my final sit-up test this week.  I am not as confident as I was with the squats but I'll give it my best effort!

Get fit Challenge

Your fitness challenge(s) for the weekweek two pushups and week five sit-ups alongs with week 5 of C25K

Your food challenge for the week: More water and count calories.

How well did it go:  Water is great...counting calories is also good.  I am down a pound this week but my BMI went up due to finding out that I am really 5'2.5" not 5'3".  :-(

Failures and slip-ups:  Still fighting with shift changes at work.  I missed one day of push ups/sit ups but I got 3 running workouts in.  Yesterday I ran of 8 minutes without stopping! Twice! Bring on 20 minutes nonstop. also kind of bummed i didn't get my extra workout in again this week.  My day off was spent at 4 doctor offices and a trip to the pharmacy.

Weekly challenge wisdom: Fruit and veggies are super low in calories.  They are pretty much free foods in my book!

Advice to fellow GET FIT members: tracking your calories keeps you accountable and is educational too.  Still learning.

Goals this week:
C25K:
  • 6Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
    • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)

Get fit Challenge week 5

Your fitness challenge(s) for the weekweek one pushups and week four sit-ups alongs with week 4 of C25K

Your food challenge for the week: More water and count calories.

How well did it go:  So many people talked about counting calories last week so I decided to count calories again  I like nutrimirror.com for counting calories, it also tracks exercise and calories burned.  You can save recipes and menus that you use frequently.  See my results below.  I am pretty happy with them  I obviously have things to work on but this is a good starting point.        Also I got at least 64 oz of water every day this week.  I think that the reason this helps burn weight is related to frequent trips to potty.

Failures and slip-ups:  I fought sleep debt all week.  My work schedule didn't allow me to get much sleep and it seemed like by the time I got home and cooked and cleaned up it was time for bed.  I didn't get the extra workout this week that I've been trying to work in but i did the 3 c25k and the sit up/push ups.  I couldn't finish the first day of this week on the C25k so I will repeat at least one day.  Maybe the whole week.  I haven't decided.

Weekly challenge wisdom: don't stop...keep up the momentum until you reach your goal.  It's a lot harder to start up again after you stop.

Advice to fellow GET FIT members: tracking your calories keeps you accountable and is educational too.

Goals this week:
C25K: Week 5 (after a make up from week 4):
  • 5Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
    • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
    • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
    • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
    • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
    • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
    Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
    • Jog 3/4 mile (or 8 minutes)
    • Walk 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
    • Jog 3/4 mile (or 8 minutes)
Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then jog two miles (or 20 minutes) with no walking.
