Get fit Challenge

Your fitness challenge(s) for the weekweek two pushups and week five sit-ups alongs with week 5 of C25K

Your food challenge for the week: More water and count calories.

How well did it go:  Water is great...counting calories is also good.  I am down a pound this week but my BMI went up due to finding out that I am really 5'2.5" not 5'3".  :-(

Failures and slip-ups:  Still fighting with shift changes at work.  I missed one day of push ups/sit ups but I got 3 running workouts in.  Yesterday I ran of 8 minutes without stopping! Twice! Bring on 20 minutes nonstop. also kind of bummed i didn't get my extra workout in again this week.  My day off was spent at 4 doctor offices and a trip to the pharmacy.

Weekly challenge wisdom: Fruit and veggies are super low in calories.  They are pretty much free foods in my book!

Advice to fellow GET FIT members: tracking your calories keeps you accountable and is educational too.  Still learning.

Goals this week:
C25K:
  • 6Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
    • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
    • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
    • Jog 3/4 mile (or 8 minutes)
    • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
    • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
    Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
    • Jog 1 mile (or 10 minutes)
    • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
    • Jog 1 mile (or 10 minutes)
Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then jog 2-1/4 miles (or 25 minutes) with no walking.

Get fit Challenge week 5

Your fitness challenge(s) for the weekweek one pushups and week four sit-ups alongs with week 4 of C25K

Your food challenge for the week: More water and count calories.

How well did it go:  So many people talked about counting calories last week so I decided to count calories again  I like nutrimirror.com for counting calories, it also tracks exercise and calories burned.  You can save recipes and menus that you use frequently.  See my results below.  I am pretty happy with them  I obviously have things to work on but this is a good starting point.        Also I got at least 64 oz of water every day this week.  I think that the reason this helps burn weight is related to frequent trips to potty.

Failures and slip-ups:  I fought sleep debt all week.  My work schedule didn't allow me to get much sleep and it seemed like by the time I got home and cooked and cleaned up it was time for bed.  I didn't get the extra workout this week that I've been trying to work in but i did the 3 c25k and the sit up/push ups.  I couldn't finish the first day of this week on the C25k so I will repeat at least one day.  Maybe the whole week.  I haven't decided.

Weekly challenge wisdom: don't stop...keep up the momentum until you reach your goal.  It's a lot harder to start up again after you stop.

Advice to fellow GET FIT members: tracking your calories keeps you accountable and is educational too.

Goals this week:
C25K: Week 5 (after a make up from week 4):

    • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
    • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)

    • Walk 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)

Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then jog two miles (or 20 minutes) with no walking.

To the park...

We took a trip to the part because this week for my get fit post (which I posted earlier today) I am supposed to take a inner child selfie.  I took some of the kiddos too.  Great day for pictures even though I'm not so good at photography.

Get fit Challenge week 4?

Your fitness challenge(s) for the weekweek five on the squat challenge and week three situp challenge and week three on c25k.

Your food challenge for the week: eating out.

How well did it go: I ate out once, Will offered to take me our for lunch and shopping for new running shoes.  Who would turn that down?  I ate Vegetarian Soba.  I packed my lunch for work.  I need to drink more water!  I took my free day on thursday instead of today but I got in all 6 workouts.  I had to run on the treadmill all week due to rain.  (It didn't rain on tuesday so I went for a 15 mile bike ride.)  Today I also ran outside.  It seems so much harder than running on the treadmill but I feel so much better when I'm done.  I accidentally slipped to the harder level of the crunch challenge but I did it.  I am going to try to maintain the harder level this week as I progress to week 4.
i did two hundred
That's right I completed my 200 squats with 5 pound weights!

Failures and slip-ups:  I had a good week...feeling much better though I"m still trying to clear up the end of my cold.

Weekly challenge wisdom: I am working on menu planning.   It is so much easier to bypass eating out if you have a plan.  I struggle planning because we only eat a few meals as a family each week.  The kids eat lunch at school and Will works evenings so I struggle planning for just the kids and I.

Advice to fellow GET FIT members:  I like this article on 31 days to a Healthier diet http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivation_articles.asp?id=780  I'm not dieting, I'm not trying to lose weight but I am trying to eat healthier and I like this resource.

Goals this week:

  • Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
  • Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
  • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
  • Walk 1/4 mile (or 2-1/2 minutes)
